Base costume items:

Top: Last year we wore long-sleeved, stretchy, form-fitting tops that matched each hummingbird’s costume. But it got hot on a sunny day! This year, let’s see what the weather is like as we get closer. We’ll still want tops that don’t clash with our costumes, but there’s a lot of flexibility for color and style. Short sleeve or tank tops are okay. Just trying to find something that looks nice with your costume (nothing that clashes).

Bottom: Stretchy, form-fitting black pants, opaque tights in black, or black shorts

Shoes: Comfortable shoes for walking

What you will need for your costume

Neatly folded colorful fabric and ribbons on a wooden table in a craft or sewing room.

To cut fabric for your costume, you will need good scissors that can cut fabric. Don’t use these scissors to cut paper! It will dull them and make it hard to make nice cuts on fabric.

If you have them and can donate, here are other supplies that we need:

  • Gallon zip-lock freezer bags for organizing fabric pieces

  • Thread in a variety of colors

  • Sequins or rhinestones for the masks
